Stop wasting time explaining yourself to others. – Your friends don’t need it and your enemies won’t believe it anyway. Just do what you know in your heart is right.
This is something I have learned over time. As I've matured (somewhat) over the years and learned from the hubby, I have realized that as long as you know you're doing something for the right reasons, you don't have to explain anything to anyone else. It only confuses things more and makes life more complicated than it needs to be.
